Former Milwaukee Brewers top executive David Stearns has agreed to a five year contract with the New York Mets. David Stearns is largely responsible for what is now the referenced as the Brewers golden age of baseball because quite quickly he turned the franchise around and put them in a position to be competitive for several years that are still to come.
Throughout his tenure with Milwaukee he has interacted with a ton of players. Consistently his ability to have an open line of communication has been preached as one of his best traits. Following his hire to the Mets a pair of former Brewers gave their opinions on the hire.

Omar Narvaez and Zach Davies give their opinions on former Milwaukee Brewers top executive David Stearns signing with the New York Mets.
Prior to the start of the 2020 season David Stearns swung a trade to acquire Omar Narvaez from the Seattle Mariners. He ended up spending three seasons with Milwaukee and then signed as a free agent with the Mets. The two will now be reunited in New York and Omar Narvaez has already reached out to him via text.
“I was excited when I saw the news [of the hire]. To me, he was one of the best GMs that I’ve had in my career.. He just gave me the confidence that at some point I was going to get out of my funk.”
“You can talk to him. Whatever you want to talk about, he’s open to anybody.”

Another former Brewer player who commented on the David Stearns hire was Zach Davies. He was acquired by trade in 2015 with the Baltimore Orioles in which the Brewers parted ways with Gerardo Parra. Zach Davies would go on to spend the 2015-2019 seasons with Milwaukee before being traded to the San Diego Padres.
“He’s an intelligent guy that put together some good rosters over the years with a lower-market team. The budgets [were] a little bit different than a place like the Mets. It’ll be interesting to see what he does over here.”
