The first inning of the Milwaukee Brewers 8-4 victory over the Chicago Cubs on Monday evening did not go according to plan. Rookie phenom Jacob Misiorowski, who got his first taste of the I-94 rivalry, gave up three runs (two earned) while tossing 40 pitches during the game’s opening frame. The lone unearned run that scored, too, was a result of Misiorowski’s own throwing error.
Despite the results, just one of Chicago’s hits that inning left the infield, the rest of their runners reaching via walk, infield hits, or on an error.
Fortunately, Misiorowski bounced back from his rough start and retired the final 10 Cubs hitters he faced. He ended his day after four innings, 80 pitches, and seven strikeouts.
The Milwaukee Brewers Offense Picked Up Jacob Misiorowski

After winning 11 consecutive games, the Brewers hit an offensive slump that prevented them from continuing their streak. Entering play on Monday, Milwaukee was 2-3 in their last five games and had lost their weekend home series against the Miami Marlins.
Due to this recent run of poor run production, many fans thought that the three runs Misiorowski gave up in the first inning would be too much for the Brewers to overcome.
It was not, though.
Milwaukee scored four runs in the bottom of the third inning thanks to an RBI double by Christian Yelich, two-run single by Isaac Collins, and sacrifice fly by Brice Turang.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, first baseman Andrew Vaughn continued his impressive run with the Brewers by hitting a solo home run, extending the lead to 5-3. Vaughn has 15 RBI in 14 games played with Milwaukee.
Notably, these five runs the Brewers scored were all off of Cubs All-Star starter Matthew Boyd, whom Misiorowski replaced in the Midsummer Classic.
Right fielder Sal Frelick added a solo home run of his own in the sixth, making the score 6-3.
After the Cubs got a run back in the seventh, Yelich hit a two-run bomb, his 20th of the season, to make the score 8-4.
Milwaukee Brewers Fans Call Out Cubs Fan Accounts for Victory Lapping Jacob Misiorowski

During that frustrating first inning, Cubs fans had the time of their lives, frontrunning on Misiorowski and calling him overrated, among other things.
When the game had ended, Brewers fans took much joy in calling out Chicago fans for taking a victory lap so early:

Misiorowski replaced Boyd on the NL All-Star roster. Tonight they both threw 80 pitches through 4 innings, and Boyd was hung with the L. https://t.co/YTszrpeUou
