Milwaukee Brewers star Christian Yelich had planned to debut a special Bob Uecker-themed bat during MLB Players Weekend last year, but a back injury sidelined him at the time. Sadly, legendary broadcaster Bob Uecker passed away this past winter, making the tribute even more meaningful. On Friday night against the Cincinnati Reds, Yelich finally had the chance to honor Uecker by using the bat in game action.

The custom Bob Uecker tribute bat that Christian Yelich uses is designed in Brewers blue and gold. It proudly features Uecker’s name, his iconic nickname “Mr. Baseball,” and his legendary home run call: “Get up, get outta here, gone!”

The Milwaukee Brewers extended their winning streak and Christian Yelich had a night he won’t forget with the Bob Uecker bat

Chasing their 13th straight win, the Brewers found themselves in an early hole against the Reds, trailing by as many as seven runs. But Christian Yelich sparked the comeback in dramatic fashion. Using his Bob Uecker tribute bat, he homered in his first at-bat, later crushed a go-ahead shot with the same bat, and finished the night 4-for-5 with five RBIs, falling just a triple shy of recording his fourth career cycle, all of which have come against Cincinnati.

For Yelich, using the Bob Uecker bat was more than just a tribute, it was personal. He and Uecker shared a close bond built over years in Milwaukee, with plenty of laughs, and a deep appreciation for one another. Honoring Uecker with a standout performance. while using a custom bat in his honor, wasn’t just symbolic,  it was fitting.

On a night that echoed with memories of “Mr. Baseball,” Yelich delivered a game Uecker would’ve loved to call, turning a long-planned tribute into a powerful, unforgettable moment.

If Team Streak had Easter Sunday 1987, these Brewers will forever have the Friday night in Cincinnati when Christian Yelich finally got to swing his Bob Uecker bat.

The 13th comeback in franchise history from 7+ runs down. A 13th consecutive victory. Magical.
