The Milwaukee Brewers have won the National League Central for the last two seasons. Milwaukee has not gotten past the Wild Card Round in the National League for the last two years and hopefully, things can change for them in the future.
One player who could make an impact for the Brewers in 2025 is outfielder Christian Yelich. All of it will depend on how healthy he is.
Milwaukee Brewers Could Trade Outfielder Christian Yelich At Some Point In 2025
Christian Yelich has been with the Brewers since the 2018 season. There is a chance that his days with the organization are numbered. Brian Sampson of dairylandexpress.com thinks that Yelich will be one of five players in Milwaukee who will not be on the team at some point in 2025.
Last season before he got injured, Yelich had a .315 batting average with 11 home runs and 42 RBIs, along with 21 stolen bases and a .406 on-base percentage. Sampson said:
“Milwaukee is now attempting to transition Yelich into a full-time designated hitter role, a move that makes sense given the team’s wealth of elite outfield defenders, including Jackson Chourio, Sal Frelick, Garrett Mitchell, and Blake Perkins. Yelich has expressed a desire to continue playing defense, but the Brewers’ roster construction makes that a tough sell.
Complicating the situation is Yelich’s contract. He’s owed $22 million annually from 2025 through 2028—a steep price for a player who may only play part-time. For a small-market team like Milwaukee, that financial commitment looms large.
Trading Yelich would be a bittersweet decision, but it’s one the Brewers may have to consider. With a no-trade clause in place, Yelich would need to approve any deal. However, the Brewers could find a suitor willing to let him play more in the outfield, potentially enticing him to waive his clause.
Moving Yelich would mark the end of an era, but it could also be the start of a new one. Jackson Chourio is a rising star, and trading Yelich would signal a passing of the torch to the next face of the franchise.”
Yelich is 33 years old. It would maybe best for both him and the Brewers to potentially move on.
Potential Trade Destinations
One potential trade destination for Christian Yelich at some point in 2025 could be the Toronto Blue Jays. They tried to make a run at Juan Soto, but he signed with the New York Mets instead. Toronto is trying to get back to the playoffs in 2025 after having a down year last season.
Yelich when healthy could be serviceable to other teams. The Brewers may move off of him anyway because of the loaded outfield they have.
