The Milwaukee Brewers, for the second game in a row, handled their business against the arch nemesis, the Chicago Cubs, defeating the Craig Counsell-led squad 9-3 on Tuesday night. It was Milwaukee’s third consecutive win and improved their record to 64-43, which is the best record in all Major League Baseball. It also extended their lead over the Cubs in the National League Central Division to two games.
The player of the game for Milwaukee was first baseman Andrew Vaughn, who was 3-4 from the plate with a home run and a career-high six RBI. His grand slam in the bottom of the sixth inning blew the game wide open for the Brewers, but also overshadowed some other notable performances and storylines.
Milwaukee Brewers Star Christian Yelich Scored His 1,000th Career Run

One of those storylines was the three-time All-Star and 2018 National League MVP Christian Yelich scored his 1,000th career run on Vaughn’s grand slam.

Yelich was 0-3 in the game against the Cubs on Tuesday night, but walked twice. He scored two runs, the first of which was on a Caleb Durbin sacrifice fly in the fifth inning. His second, as mentioned, came in the bottom of the sixth when he scored on Vaughn’s grand slam.
Yelich is hitting .256/.333/.444 this season with 20 home runs, 69 RBI, 15 stolen bases and 55 runs scored. He has eclipsed 100 runs scored in a season four times, the most recent occurrence happening in 2023 when he scored 106 runs.
His 631 runs scored in a Brewers uniform rank eighth in team history behind franchise legends Robin Yount, Paul Molitor, Ryan Braun, Cecil Cooper, Jim Gantner, Rickie Weeks, and Geoff Jenkins.
