The Milwaukee Brewers are currently in the process of putting together a coaching staff for the 2025 season. Already we have seen them make changes to their hitting coaches by promoting Al LeBoeuf and Eric Theisen while letting Ozzie Timmons go. Now the team has confirmed that pitching coach Chris Hook has signed a multi year deal with the team, but there is some concern that first base coach Quintin Berry will not be retained.
Chris Hook has signed a multi year contract with the Milwaukee Brewers
The Brewers have announced that Chris Hook has signed a multi year contract with the Brewers. Exact numbers, including salary and contract length, have not been made public. Chris Hook has been an impactful part of the Brewers for nearly 20 years but he took over as the pitching coach prior to the start of the 2019 season. Since 2019 Milwaukee’s pitching staff is top five in strikeouts, opponents’ average, and earned run average.
Quintin Berry is ‘not expected’ back for the 2025 season
In Adam McCalvy of MLB.com’s write up of the Chris Hook signing he briefly mentioned the status of a few other Brewers coaches. McCalvy wrote, “One coach the Brewers are not expected to be able to retain is Quintin Berry, the highly-regarded first-base coach who played a major role in Milwaukee’s league-best baserunning.” Berry joined the Brewers coaching staff immediately upon retiring in 2018 and has been the first base coach since 2021.
Major League coaching contracts expire after October 31. This gives the Brewers a few days left to potentially work something out with Quintin Berry, but right now reports are indicating that he will not be back for the 2025 season.
