The Milwaukee Brewers have sent a group of seven players to their complex in Arizona to stay sharp in case they are needed during the post season. Among this group there are four pitchers and three position players. Reliever Bryan Hudson, who owns a 1.73 ERA across 62.1 MLB innings this year, is one of those players and despite not pitching in the big leagues since September 2 he could still find himself on the playoff roster.
Who are the seven players the Milwaukee Brewers sent to their complex in Arizona?
Per Adam McCalvy at MLB.com pitchers Bryan Hudson, Elvis Peguero, Jacob Misiorowski, and Logan Henderson are all in Arizona. The position players who reported are Vinny Capra, Brewer Hicklen, and Tyler Black. McCalvy reported that assistant Brewers GM Matt Kleine said the thought process behind this was, “We don’t want them to go home and then all of a sudden it’s, ‘Oh, wait, we need you.'”
Bryan Hudson could make the initial post season roster despite not pitching in the big leagues since September 2.
Rookie reliever Bryan Hudson played a big role in the Brewers bullpen this year. He not only pitched in numerous high leverage situations but 24 out of his 43 appearances this year consisted of multiple innings pitched. Despite a drop in velocity he was still getting positive outcomes on the mound, but he ended up throwing the highest amount of innings in a season since 2018; which was when he was still operating as a starting pitcher in the Minor Leagues.
Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reporter Curt Hogg has spoken with manager Pat Murphy on Bryan Hudson. Right now all indications are that he won’t return to the big league club before the end of the regular season, but he is in discussion to be on the initial post season roster.
It’s a growing reality that Bryan Hudson may not get called up this week, but Murphy made it very clear they would consider putting him on playoff roster w/out pitching in another regular season game.
I asked how they would assess the “reset” attempt. Here’s what Murphy said: pic.twitter.com/8cXMQCnGxS

The Brewers will host the National League Wild Card series that begins on October 1. It will be interesting to see if Bryan Hudson is on the roster or not.
