Milwaukee Brewers: Brice Turang is the hottest hitter nobody is talking about

Milwaukee Brewers‘ 2024 Platinum Glove winner Brice Turang has built a strong reputation for his elite defensive skills at second base. Last season, he also impressed at the plate with excellent bat-to-ball ability, posting a modest 17% strikeout rate, while flashing top-tier speed and instincts by becoming one of just three players to steal 50 bases.

In 2025, Turang has continued to shine in those key areas, maintaining a solid 21% strikeout rate and swiping 22 bases so far. However, the most noticeable leap in his game has come in the power department, particularly in August, as he’s begun to consistently showcase his ability to drive the ball and add home run power to his all-around profile.

Heading into August, Turang had hit six home runs, just one shy of his total from last season, and carried a .363 slugging percentage. Since then, he’s caught fire. Turang has launched nine home runs this month alone, bringing his season total to 15. He’s slugging an impressive .733 in August, and his 1.137 OPS ranks third in all of baseball, trailing only George Springer and Gavin Sheets.

Turang may not be grabbing national headlines, but he’s quietly putting together a case for NL Player of the Month. While others around the league soak up the spotlight, Turang has been a steady force in Milwaukee’s lineup, delivering big hits and consistently impacting games. It’s the kind of month that deserves more attention than it’s getting.

The Milwaukee Brewers have seen Brice Turang’s power abilities shift before

Before reaching the majors, Turang showed flashes of power in the minor leagues, most notably in 2022 when he broke out with 13 home runs and a .412 slugging percentage, surpassing his combined total from 2018 to 2021. His recent surge at the plate suggests that all the talk of him potentially being a 15–20 home run hitter was very real.

When you pair Turang’s elite defense, speed, contact skills, and now power, he is starting to look like one of the most well-rounded offensive threats in the league.
