Burgers will soon be pouring onto the streets of Milwaukee (sort of), as the Milwaukee Brewers just unlocked a salivating promotion by George Webb, a local restaurant chain that promised to dole out free burgers if the Brew Crew successfully pull off a 12-game win streak.
The Brewers did just that exactly on Wednesday, when they demolished the hapless Pittsburgh Pirates in the finale of a three-game series, 12-5.
Milwaukee cruised to a 5-0 lead with Brandon Woodruff starting on the mound. Woodruff, who started the season on the injured list, pitched for four innings, allowing zero earned runs on four hits with two walks issued and four strikeouts.
However, the Pirates trimmed their deficit to just a run, thanks to back-to-back home multi-RBI homers by Bryan Reynolds before the Brewers’ offense turned it on again to stave off the upset-seeking Bucs.

Brandon Woodruff had a solid start in a huge win vs. Pirates

After the game, Woodruff admitted that he felt there was more than just a regular-season win on the line for the Brewers.
“I was nervous,” Woodruff said, per the Associated Press (h/t ESPN). “There was a little bit more at stake today. I wanted to win those burgers bad. Who doesn’t want a free burger?”
On the season, the 32-year-old Woodruff has a 4-0 record and 2.06 ERA in seven starts for the Brewers.
Looking ahead, the Brewers have a three-game series next on the road against the Cincinnati Reds at the Great American Ball Park.
