The Milwaukee Brewers secured their league best 71st win of the season on Friday night in dramatic fashion. With a one run lead in the ninth, two outs, and the game tying run at second base, New York Mets batter Jeff McNeil hit a single into center field that looked like it was going to tie the game. Blake Perkins had other plans.

With Brewers All-Star closer Trevor Megill on the mound, the Mets managed to put two runners on base against him in the ninth inning. New York then appeared to hit a game tying single into center field, but defender Blake Perkins delivered the throw of the year to get Starling Marte out at home and subsequently ended the game.

Blake Perkins has done this before

A year ago, Perkins emerged as one of the game’s best defenders in center field. Numerous home run robberies grabbed all the headlines, but he also had a similar game ending play on June 9 against the Cincinnati Reds.
Almost the exact same play on June 16th last year against the Reds.
