The Milwaukee Brewers dropped the final game of their three-game weekend series against the Colorado Rockies by the score of 4-3. As they head out east on a six-game road trip this week, it appears as if they may be bringing another young player who is set to make his Major League debut.
According to Baseball Writers of American Association member Francys Romero, the Brewers are calling up Anthony Seigler:

Seigler, who signed a minor league contract with Milwaukee ahead of the 2025 season, is currently hitting .278/.416/.469 with seven home runs, 35 RBI, and 20 stolen bases for the Brewers’ triple-A affiliate Nashville Sounds.
Anthony Seigler Has Found Success with the Milwaukee Brewers Organization
Seigler plays second base, third base, and catcher, which makes him the kind of versatile player that the Brewers love. He is also a switch hitter, which means he can be inserted in the lineup no matter who is on the mound.
However, Seigler has only recently found success while playing in Milwaukee’s minor league system. A former first round pick (23rd overall) by the New York Yankees in 2018, he never advanced passed their Double-A level in the minors.
Last season, Seigler hit .234/.350/.398 with 12 home runs, 49 RBI, and 29 stolen bases in 120 games. In 2023, he hut just .166/.333/.263 with with five home runs, 27 RBI, and seven stolen bases in 67 games.
With the Brewers, though, Seigler appears to have unlocked something in his game, and the 26 year old is ready to make his Major League debut.
But his promotion may mean an IL stint from one of the team’s most important players.
The Milwaukee Brewers May Be Placing William Contreras on the Injured List
It should be noted that no Brewers reporters, nor the team itself, has announced Seigler’s promotion. That being said, his possible promotion could mean that Milwaukee is planning on placing two-time All-Star catcher William Contreras on the injured list.
The two-time Silver Slugger winner is hitting just .245/.360/.354 with six home runs and 34 RBI last season. Over the previous two years, he hit .285/.366/.462 while averaging 20 home runs and 85 RBI a season.
However, Contreras has been playing through a fractured finger in his left hand, which has affected the right-handed batter’s swing. June was his worst month of the year as he hit just .228/.344/.328 with a home run and eight RBI in 22 games.
As Seigler can play catcher (he has played 24 games there in Nashville, as well as 24 at second base, 11 at third base, and five as the designated hitter), it is possible that he is going to either start over Eric Haase or back him up.
