The Milwaukee Brewers have announced a wave of spring training big league roster cuts. Being re-assigned to minor league camp are six position players and three pitchers. There were no surprises among this group, but a pair of top 30 prospects were involved.
Six Milwaukee Brewers position players were re-assigned to minor league camp

Heading back to minor league camp are:
- C David Garcia
- OF Jimmy Herron
- OF Luis Lara
- SS Cooper Pratt
- 1B Ernesto Martinez Jr
- 2B/C Anthony Seigler
Among this group of re-assignments, Pratt is the team’s biggest prospect as he is currently ranked third per MLB Pipeline. Lara is the second highest ranked at 21. Neither stood a chance at making the big league team and will either start the 2025 season in High-A or Double-A.
Additionally, Martinez Jr has made some headlines. The 6’6″ lefty has been with the organization since 2017, re-signed with the team during the off-season despite initially entering free agency, and is well known for his ability to do the splits while stretching out for balls at first base.
Three Milwaukee Brewers pitchers were re-assigned to minor league camp

Pitchers going back to minor league camp are:
- LHP Tyler Jay
- LHP Thomas Pannone
- LHP Bruce Zimmerman
All three of these lefties signed minor league deals with the Brewers this off-season. Jay was actually on the 40-man roster last year and appeared in two games with Milwaukee. Pannone pitched for the Brew Crew in the big leagues in 2023, but split time between the Cubs and Yankees organizations last year. Lastly, Zimmerman is a 30 year old veteran who last appeared in the big leagues in 2023 and this is his first stint with Milwaukee.
More roster cuts will in the future as the team can only carry 26 players on the active roster come Opening Day.
