The Milwaukee Brewers have defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers 6-5, have completed the three game sweep on the road, and have, for the first time since they joined the National League, swept the season series against them. Sunday’s game saw Milwaukee come from behind after trailing 3-0. It was the first time all year that the Brewers came back from more than two runs down to win a game.
Sunday’s victory was especially impressive, not only because of the comeback, but because manager Pat Murphy had a lineup that saw Christian Yelich and Brice Turang get the day off due to left-handed legend Clayton Kershaw starting for the Dodgers.
Instead of their usual contributors, the Brewers saw backups Eric Haase and Andruw Monasterio, as well as rookie Isaac Collins, come up in big moments.
Milwaukee Brewers First Baseman Andrew Vaughn Made Franchise History Against the Los Angeles Dodgers

One of the more interesting storylines during Milwaukee’s ten game win streak has been the production of first baseman Andrew Vaughn. Originally acquired from the Chicago White Sox in the Aaron Civale trade, Vaughn had been sent to Triple-A after years of disappointing play with his former team.
But Rhys Hoskins had to be placed on the injured list with a sprained wrist, which opened the door for Vaughn to return to the Majors.
And what a return it has been!
Since his call up, the Brewers are 9-0 and Vaughn has hit .391/.500/.739 with two home runs and 12 RBI.
On Sunday, he was 2-3 with a run scored and two walks. And while he did not record an RBI, his RBI during Saturday’s game put him in the team’s record books:
Andrew Vaughn has 12 RBIs in his first 7 games as a Brewer — that’s the most in a player’s first 7 games in franchise history.
2023 Brian Anderson and 1978 Paul Molitor both had 10 RBIs.#ThisIsMyCrew

As one can see in the post above from Dominic Cotroneo, Vaughn’s 12 RBI through his first seven games with the team is a club record, breaking the old mark of 10 that was held by Brian Anderson and Paul Molitor.
Of course, it is not likely that Vaughn will continue to hit close to .400 and average driving in a run every game. However, this short sample is great news for Milwaukee as Hoskins will be out for about a month.
What is more, Hoskins likely will not be back next season and Vaughn has a couple more years of club control remaining. The fact that the former third overall pick appears to have rediscovered himself in Milwaukee is a very good thing for the team, both this year and in the immediate future.
