If Milwaukee Brewers fans are expecting the team to make a big splash ahead of the 2025 MLB Trade Deadline, they are going to be sorely disappointed. According to recent reports, the Brewers are not expected to make any major moves unless, as ESPN’s Jeff Passan put it, value “falls into their laps.”
But while that may not be news fans in Milwaukee want to hear, the fact remains that the Brewers are currently the best team in all baseball with a 64-43 record. They also lead the hated Chicago Cubs by two games in the National League Central Division, and have the chance to increase the lead to three games should they complete the sweep of Chicago at home on Wednesday.
What is more, it is not as if the Brewers have not been active on the trade market all season long. Indeed, the earlier additions of starting pitcher Quinn Priester and Andrew Vaughn have been big reasons for Milwaukee’s recent run of success this year.
Both Quinn Priester and Andrew Vaughn Led the Milwaukee Brewers to Victory Over the Chicago Cubs

The Brewers defeated the rival Cubs 9-3 on Tuesday night, their third win in a row, and set themselves up for the chance to sweep Chicago on Wednesday. Priester, who had a career ERA of 6.23 when Milwaukee acquired him earlier this year, pitched 5.2 innings of two run ball while scattering eight hits and two walks and striking out three.
He earned the win, making him 10-2 on the season with a 3.27 ERA. Milwaukee has won each of the past 10 games Priester has started. His .833 win percentage is the best in Major League Baseball among qualified starters.
Vaughn, who was traded to the Brewers for starting pitcher Aaron Civale earlier this year, has taken Milwaukee by storm ever since he was called up to replace an injured Rhys Hoskins. He added to his early legend against Chicago on Tuesday, going 3-4 with a grand slam and six RBI.
Civale, meanwhile, is 1-4 with a 4.10 ERA in eight starts with the Chicago White Sox.
Milwaukee Brewers First Baseman Andrew Vaughn Is on an Historic Run

Prior to being traded to Milwaukee, Vaughn had hit .189/.218/.314 with five home runs and 19 RBI in 48 games with the White Sox this season. They had sent him down to their Triple-A team before shipping him off to the Brewers for Civale.
But since being called up Milwaukee, Vaughn has shown why he was once the third overall pick in the MLB amateur draft.
Including his performance on Tuesday, Vaughn is hitting .375/.439/.771 with five home runs and 21 RBI in just 15 games with the Brewers. He has also walked as many times (seven) for Milwaukee as he did in those 48 games for Chicago.
According Brewers insider Curt Hogg, Vaughn’s 21 RBI in his first 15 games with the organization is a franchise record:
Andrew Vaughn’s 21 RBI are the most through a player’s first 15 games with the Brewers in franchise history…and it’s not even close. Sal Frelick has the next-most with 15.

Surprisingly, the previous record of 15 was held by Sal Frelick, who made his debut with Milwaukee back in 2023.
