The Milwaukee Brewers haven’t hosted an Opening Day at American Family Field since 2021, when they faced the Minnesota Twins. Since then, they’ve hit the road to start the season, opening in Chicago in both 2022 and 2023, and in New York in back-to-back years, taking on the Mets in 2024 and the Yankees in 2025.
These late March and early April road series have often come with weather-related concerns, as none of the previously mentioned ballparks have retractable roofs. That’s what makes Milwaukee hosting early-season games so practical, American Family Field’s retractable roof ensures games can go on as scheduled, regardless of the weather.
In 2026, the Brewers will finally get to host another Opening Day game at home, with next year’s opponent being the Chicago White Sox.
Milwaukee Brewers fans rejoice after being granted a 2026 Opening Day game at home

About damn time that we’re not playing a 35° or rainy day in New York or Chicago
