The vibes could not be higher for the Milwaukee Brewers and their fans than they are right now at this point in the season. After defeating the Chicago Cubs by the score of 9-3 on Tuesday night, Milwaukee is 64-43, two games ahead of Chicago for first place in the National League Central Division, and have the best record in all Major League Baseball.
Indeed, over the past two games especially, the Brewers appear to be firing on all cylinders. Their pitching, as it has been ever since they stumbled out of the gate to an 0-4 start, has been stellar. And, especially over the last two games against the Cubs, the offense has been scoring runs at a high rate.
But as the 2025 MLB Trade Deadline approaches, many fans have been calling for the team to add another bat to lineup, particularly on the left side of the infield where Joey Ortiz has become as automatic an out as there can be when he steps to the plate.
Unfortunately for those fans, though, that is likely not going to happen.
ESPN’s Jeff Passan Says the Milwaukee Brewers Will Not Do Much at the MLB Trade Deadline

Over the course of the past couple of weeks, but especially in the last few days, the Brewers have been linked to numerous players that are on the trading block. The most notable of these is Arizona Diamondbacks third baseman Eugenio Suarez, who has 36 home runs and an MLB-leading 87 RBI so far this season.
His big bat is especially what Milwaukee fans want injected into the lineup, but there are multiple other teams understandably interested in his services. And despite the fact that Suarez will be a free agent at the end of the season, Arizona is asking for a king’s ransom in return for the All-Star slugger.
And this, according to ESPN’s Jeff Passan, is exactly why the Brewers will not get Suarez, or really anyone notable ahead of the trade deadline.
In his latest update on trade rumors around MLB, Passan writes of Milwaukee, “The Brewers won’t do much, unless value falls into their laps.”
Yesterday, it was reported that Milwaukee was interested in acquiring 2025 All-Star first baseman Ryan O’Hearn from the Baltimore Orioles. However, given how well Andrew Vaughn (who was acquired via trade earlier this year) has played, they may not feel the need to do so.
