The Milwaukee Brewers are going to be one team to watch during the 2025 MLB Draft as they could have five picks within the top 80 selections. An exact draft order is not set yet, but here we take a look at how the Brew Crew could be in a great position to add an exciting new crop of players.
20th overall will belong to the Milwaukee Brewers, but the rest is still yet to be determined
The Brewers are poised to make five potential picks within the top 80 in the 2025 MLB Draft, with their first-round pick locked in at 20th overall. Following that, there’s a strong possibility they’ll receive a compensation pick right after the first round, triggered by Willy Adames signing a long-term deal elsewhere. Additionally, they hold selections in both Competitive Balance Rounds A and B, as well as a second-round pick.
How did the Milwaukee Brewers manage to receive picks in both the Competitive Balance Round A and B?
The 10 lowest-revenue clubs and the clubs from the 10 smallest markets are eligible to receive a Competitive Balance pick. All eligible teams are assigned a pick, either in Competitive Balance Round A or Round B. This year the Brewers were assigned the first pick in the Competitive Balance Round A. They also get a Competitive Balance Round B selection due to 2024 draft pick Chris Levonas electing to attend Wake Forest University rather than sign to play professionally.
It is possible that the Milwaukee Brewers could have three picks within the top 35
After factoring in luxury tax draft penalties and anticipated compensatory picks, the Brewers could be selecting 20th, 29th, and 33rd overall. This alone will give Milwaukee plenty of opportunities to add some exciting prospects, but it gets even more exciting when realizing that their second round draft pick will likely come around 60th overall and the Competitive Round Balance B pick somewhere in the 70s.
So after those are distributed, it *could* look like this:

MLB Draft day in 2025 is not until July 13-15, but it is exciting to start think about the amount of talent that the Brewers could compile in what is being viewed as a very talented draft class.
