The Green Bay Packers could clear some of the competition at the deepest position group across the roster and simultaneously become among the prohibitive Super Bowl favorites in the NFC by making one blockbuster trade.
After selecting Matthew Golden and Savion Williams earlier this spring in the NFL Draft, the Packers’ receiving corps is a logjam where quality players may struggle to see the field in meaningful situations. However, the situation is much more dire when it comes to Green Bay’s pass rush where the outlook is centered on Lukas Van Ness and Rashan Gary making big leaps or Edgerrin Cooper contributing off the edge in the star linebacker’s second season.
One trade, could change all of that, while dramatically elevating the Packers’ ceiling in 2025, and beyond.
Packers are an Ideal Trade Fit for Micah Parsons

As the contract negotiations between Micah Parsons and the Dallas Cowboys hit their nadir with the All-Pro edge rusher formally requesting a trade last week, the Packers could be an ideal trade partner for the Cowboys and destination for Parsons.
Packers reporter Matt Schneidman suggests the Packers could send wide receiver Romeo Doubs, a 2026 first-round draft choice and 2027 second-round draft choice to the Cowboys, in exchange for Parsons.
“The Packers don’t make these types of trades. General manager Brian Gutekunst might dry heave at the thought of giving away his next two first-round picks and a reliable offensive weapon,” writes Matt Schneidman. “However, this situation is different, draft capital, Doubs and the contract Parsons is due be damned. Gutekunst is entering his eighth season as Packers GM having never made a Super Bowl appearance. New team president Ed Policy isn’t extending Gutekunst’s contract (yet), which has two years remaining on it, and doesn’t want him in a contract year. This season could be important for Gutekunst’s long-term future in the job, and what better way to make a statement to your new boss than acquiring a player who could help the Packers return to the game’s biggest stage?
“Green Bay’s weakest area could very well be its pass rush, which was inconsistent last season. Enter Parsons, a future Hall of Famer if he continues on this trajectory, to solve that problem. Parsons off one edge and Rashan Gary, freed from double teams, off the other? Sounds nice to me, and I’m sure to Gutekunst, too. Jerry Jones would love an extra first-rounder in 2026 and 2027, along with a great No. 3 receiver still on his rookie contract in the sure-handed Doubs to slot behind CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens.”
Parsons is an All-Pro and perrenial Defensive Player of The Year contender who wouldn’t just elevate the weakest position on the Packers roster, also one of the most vital for a contending NFL team, who could power Green Bay into becoming a legitimate Super Bowl threat over the next several seasons.
If the Cowboys are looking to round out a wide receiver trio alongside Lamb and Pickens, Doubs has significant upside and could set quarterback Dak Prescott and Dallas up for the offense to reach its peak potential.
There are few trades that would benefit both sides, but if Dallas is truly open to moving off Parsons, this proposal could offer significant upside, especially for the Packers.
