The Packers are betting big that rookie wide receiver Matthew Golden’s game-breaking speed will take the top off opposing defenses this season, and if early returns are any indication, the first-round pick could be ready for takeoff.
As Green Bay strapped the pads on for Tuesday’s practice, Golden turned in the play of the day.
Matthew Golden Breaks Out for Packers
According to ESPN’s Rob Demovsky, Golden pulled down a 54-yard touchdown from quarterback Jordan Love, after getting behind defensive backs Nate Hobbs and Evan Williams.
Golden also showed off an elite ability to track the ball during Tuesday’s practice.

Golden’s blazing 4.29-second speed was undoubtedly a top drawing card for the Packers to break their decades-long drought of not picking a wide receiverin the first round earlier this spring.
The 5-foot-11 and 191-pound former Texas Longhorn standout has explosive potential as a big-play threat. If Golden quickly reaches his potential, the Packers could have an element of explosiveness on its hands on offense this season.
