Former Marquette basketball star Jimmy Butler is one of the most polarizing figures in the NBA. For years, he has always been unashamedly himself, something that has endeared him to fans all around the country for years. There is a well-known story of him walking around downtown Milwaukee in a pink bunny costume during his college days. It was not Halloween or Easter.
He is who he is and does not care what anyone thinks.
And while that is an admirable character trait to an extent, there are times when one can take behaviors too far. It Unfortunately, that seems to be what Butler has done.
Former Marquette Star Jimmy Butler Has Been Suspended by the Miami Heat
On Friday, news broke from multiple reporters that the Miami Heat had suspended Butler for seven games. This outcome is the result of weeks of tension between the former Golden Eagle and Miami.

In addition, Shams Charania of ESPN reports that Butler has officially requested a trade away from the Heat:
“Butler does not plan to furnish the Heat with a list of favored destinations, sources told ESPN. He is open to playing anywhere other than Miami and believes he can make any team a contender — no matter where he is moved. He does plan to take part in all team activities and do whatever the Heat ask of him during this process, sources said.”
Well, it sounds like Miami does not want him around the team for a while, as his comments and actions, both on and off camera, have resulted in a seven-game suspension.
Butler is averaging 17.6 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 4.7 assists this season. He is in the second year of a three-year $146 million deal. Next season, however, is a player option worth $52.4 million.
