The Marquette Golden Eagles finished the 2024 -2025 season with a loss in the first-round of the NCAA Tournament against the New Mexico Lobos. Marquette will have to replace a lot of talent for next year.

Kam Jones, Stevie Mitchell, and David Joplin will be big losses for the program. One player who could step up next season is Sean Jones. There will be a different starting five for Marquette and it might take time for the team to adjust to it.
Marquette Golden Eagles Insider Reveals Sean Jones Potentially In Starting Lineup For 2025-2026

It is never too early to discuss what the Golden Eagles starting lineup is going to look like for the 2025-2026 season under head coach Shaka Smart. Marquette will have a different looking starting lineup next season. Ben Steele of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel talked about what the lineup could look like next season.
He has Zaide Lowery, Chase Ross, Royce Parham, Ben Gold, and Sean Jones in the starting lineup for next season. Gold and Ross return to the lineup for next year, but Parham, Lowery, and Jones would be three new starters for next season for Marquette.
Jones is the interesting name that is in the starting lineup potentially for the Golden Eagles next season. He did not play at all for Marquette during the 2024-2025 season. Steele said,
“When Jones steps on the floor in a game again for MU, it will be for the first time since Jan. 10, 2024, when he suffered a devastating knee injury against Butler. In practices, Jones’ lateral quickness appears to be fully back. He’ll take over from Mitchell as the team’s ball-hawking pest, and his speed will push the pace for the Golden Eagles.”
Jones is 5’10” and weighs 185 lbs. In 16 games played during the 2023-2024 season, he averaged 5.8 PPG 1.5 RPG, and 2.0 APG, along with shooting 41.8% from the field. Jones, Parham, and Lowery will have a lot to prove next season.
Losing Mitchell, Joplin, and Jones will be huge for the program. However, Smart’s philosophy of developing talent from within the program will no doubt be tested right off the bat. Jones has a chance to have a big year next season after missing the entire 2024-2025 season with an injury also.
