Marquette Golden Eagles men’s basketball team takes pride in retaining its players up to their senior year, something that goes against the idea of transfer portal which saw many programs lose their players to better schools in search of better NIL earnings or just purely to get more playing time.

The program deals with an outgoing player through the transfer portal for the first time since 2022-2023 season as reports revealed 6’9 forward Al Amadou is seeking a new program through it.
The last players to enter the TP from Marquette were Emarion Ellis who is now with the Nicholls Colonels, Keeyan Itejere now playing for Northern Kentucky, and Zach Wrightsil now with California Baptist University Lancers.
Verbal Commits listed Amadou as among the players whose name is now in the transfer portal.

Amadou redshirted in the 2024-2025 season after having a productive first year with the team. He played 14 games in the 2023-2024 season and scored a total of 17 points, 16 of them from dunks.
He is known for his athletic ability but he is still considered a developmental prospect.
Marquette Golden Eagles squad for 2025-2026
The Golden Eagles are coming off a disappointing end to the season after bowing to New Mexico Lobos in the first round of the March Madness.
They lost three seniors after this season as Kam Jones, David Joplin, and Stevie Mitchell played their last game against the Lobos.
The seniors for the next season will be Ben Gold and Chase Ross.

With Amadou leaving, there are now two spots open in the team. There are five players who will make a debut for the Golden Eagles.
Head coach Shaka Smart previously said that they will continue investing on the players they have right now although they are not closing doors on the transfer portal.
