Kam Jones has grown into the best player for the Marquette Golden Eagles with the departure the former seniors to the NBA.
He embraced the role willingly and he is brilliant as the team leader of a team that is currently leading the Big East with a 14-2 overall record.
He also receives awards and recognitions here and there, starting from being called as among the greatest Golden Eagles ever, getting named to the Wooden Award Midseason Watch List, and having people fight for his case for the National Player of the Year Award.
His coaches also praise him for his maturity and expanding his arsenal this season.
He is receiving all of these because of his increased quality of play and now, the professional scouts are taking notice.
Jones has been named as among the most underrated prospects for the 2025 NBA draft which will be headlined by Cooper Flagg of the Duke Blue Devils, Egor Denim of BYU, Kasparas Jakucionis of Illinois, and Ace Bailey and Dylan Harper of Rutgers.
Why is Kam Jones underrated for 2025 NBA Draft?
Jones is underrated because he is not from the Top 5 schools nor in the Top 10 of most mock draft.
For The Athletic’s John Hollinger, the Marquette shooting guard something that most prospects don’t have, great perimeter play.
He wrote:
I wrote about Jones already and don’t want to repeat too much, but suffice it to say, Jones continues to be the most productive perimeter player in college basketball by a wide margin. Jones will be 23 on draft night, but his story is a bit different from some other older players because analytics models have been on him since his sophomore year.
Despite his age, he might be the one player on this list who I think has the best odds of crashing the lottery, Devin Carter-style, given his ready-made skill set for the next level and multi-year history of elite production as a collegian.
