“I Can’t Believe We’re Still Ranked”: Marquette Golden Eagles Fans Stunned About Being Ranked In the Ap Top 25

The Marquette Golden Eagles will host the Providence Friars in another Big East Matchup with tip-off scheduled for 6 p.m. CT. Marquette has struggled during February.

The Golden Eagles this season have a 20-7 overall record and are 11-5 in Big East Conference play. Marquette is the third seed in the conference and their sights on potentially winning the Big East Tournament is still within reach. However, the Marquette Golden Eagles will need to start playing better. The Creighton Blue Jays and the St. John’s Red Storm are ahead of them in the standings currently.

Marquette Golden Eagles Fans React To Still Being Ranked In the Top 25

On Monday, the new AP Top 25 poll was released. The Marquette Golden Eagles were ranked 21 in the country and this comes after the 81-66 on the road against the Villanova Wildcats on Friday night. Marquette will be in the NCAA Tournament, but it will be interesting to see where they will get seeded. Villanova is currently a bubble team.

It is not a surprise to see mixed reactions from the Marquette Golden Eagles fanbase about still being ranked in the Top 25. They will have to win games this week to stay in the Top 25. If not, there is a chance that they can fall out of the Top 25 entirely. Only St. John’s and Creighton from the conference are also ranked. The UCONN Huskies are not ranked.

 Winnable Games This Week

Other than the Providence Friars matchup, the Golden Eagles will face the Georgetown Hoyas on Saturday, March 1. Providence and Georgetown are not expected to make the NCAA Tournament this season. These are the kind of games that Marquette has to win.

Head coach Shaka Smart needs to have his guys focused moving forward. Kam Jones and others around him will also need to play better moving forward.
