The Marquette Golden Eagles were on the road on Tuesday night against the DePaul Blue Demons. With six seconds remaining in regulation, Marquette was down 65-64 and Chase Ross hit a go-ahead three.
On the defensive end, Ben Gold was called for goaltending and the game was tied at 67. Kam Jones also missed a three-point shot at the end of regulation. The Golden Eagles prevailed in overtime on the road against the Blue Demons by a final score of 85-83.
Marquette Golden Eagles Who Performed Well Against the DePaul Blue Demons
With the win for the Golden Eagles, they improved to 15-2 on the season and 6-0 in Big East Conference play. As for the Blue Demons, they dropped to 9-9 on the season and are now 0-7 in conference play. Had Marquette lost to DePaul on Tuesday night, it would have been one of the biggest upsets in college basketball this season.
One of the biggest performers for head coach Shaka Smart on Tuesday night was David Joplin. He scored 30 points and made seven three-pointers. Joplin also grabbed four rebounds and recorded one assist.
Ben Gold scored 14 points and grabbed two rebounds. Kam Jones recorded another double-double for the Marquette Golden Eagles with 18 points, six rebounds, and 11 assists. Chase Ross also added 15 points, five rebounds, and two assists.
Once again, no matter the circumstances, the Marquette Golden Eagled depth is what prevailed in this game against the DePaul Blue Demons. It was too close for comfort, but a win is a win.

Many Marquette Golden Eagles fans hated the jerseys they wore against the DePaul Blue Demons on the road. Many fans blame that as one reason they almost lost the game on the road. Marquette will look to better in their next conference game and DePaul is still searching for its first conference win of the season.
