The weight room is one of the scariest places to be in the Green Bay Packers facility this offseason. A third member of the Packers team is battling an injury due to lifting weights. The Packers’ training staff gets a tough rap from the fanbase for an almost never-ending supply of hamstring injuries being added to the injury report, but the weight room is on another level.
The Green Bay Packers have had bad luck on the bench press

Packers head coach Matt LaFleur suffered a pec injury before the draft when he “got in a fight with the bench press and lost.” Offensive lineman Zach Tom also suffered a torn pec lifting weights before the draft. Due to the injury, Tom might miss the start of training camp.
Tucker Kraft’s pec popped off the bone

According to Bill Huber with Sports Illustrated, second-year tight end Tucker Kraft explained how he tore his pec. It was on the last rep of a speed-benching exercise:
“Just a regular lift,” Kraft said. “It was my last rep of the day on bench. Nothing crazy, not heavy weight. We were speed-benching and it just popped right off the bone.”
The Packers hope Kraft will be available to start training camp.
Will the Packers change their weight room strategy?

The Packers did some homework this offseason to see if they could curb hamstring injuries, especially after wide receiver Christian Watson suffered several early in his career. They might do the same thing with bench weights and pecs.
