Last season, a foot injury lingered for Jordan Love, impacting the Packers quarterback’s mobility, and this season the rising passer is navigating an injured thumb ahead of the regular season kicking off.
Despite being limited for the latter stages of training camp and the preseason, Love is making a key adjustment to limit the impact and effects of the injury once Week 1 kicks off against the NFC North rival Chicago Bears.
Packers’ Jordan Love Changing How He Takes the Snap
One way that Love is trying to protect himself and avoid the injury lingering, is adjusting how he takes the snap.
“The ball hits my hand, but it’s on my fingers. I’m avoiding anything on my thumb,” Love said, during an appearance on the Up and Adams Podcast with Kay Adams. “I’m in a little bit of a brace right now [and] trying to protect it. Just got to keep it protected right now.”
Love and the Packers are aiming to build on last season’s run to the NFC Wild Card round, but the star quarterback will need to be a healthy and effective piece of the puzzle, so finding creative ways to protect his thumb early and prevent it from being an issue all season seem prudent.
