Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love was in awe of running back Josh Jacobs on Thursday night against the Miami Dolphins.
No, not just because Jacobs finished with 43 rushing yards and a touchdown, but of the star running back’s big play that broke the backs of the Dolphins’ defense.
With just under eight minutes to play on Thursday night, Jacobs took a swing-pass from Love and turned upfield where he juked Dolphins linebacker Tyrel Dodsen out of his cleats before sprinting downfield for a 49-yard gain that gave the Packers some additional breathing room in a 30-17 blowout victory.
“It was nasty, it was very nasty,” Love told reporters after the game. “To watch him run down the field—it’s fun to watch a guy like that.”
Love managed the game to perfection for the Packers, completing 21-of-28 passing attempts for 274 yards, two touchdowns, and a 129.2 passer rating, in the latest performance that solidifies his status not only as Green Bay’s franchise quarterback but also one of the game’s premier young players at the position.
Meanwhile, Jacobs has played his way into the fringes of the MVP conversation during his first season in a Packers uniform.
A focal point of the Packers’ offense this season, Jacobs has now posted 1,247 yards from scrimmage and nine total touchdowns.
Jacobs also very clearly has a big fan, in his quarterback.
