Jackson Chourio of the Milwaukee Brewers, Jackson Merrill of the San Diego Padres, and Jackson Holiday of the Baltimore Orioles all made MLB history on Friday, August 16. The three rookies with the same first name became the first trio to all accomplish one thing on the same day and for Brewers fans it comes with a nostalgic connection to Robin Yount.
On Friday, August 16 Jackson Chourio (Milwaukee Brewers), Jackson Merrill (San Diego Padres), and Jackson Holiday (Baltimore Orioles) made MLB history.
For the first time in MLB history three different players with the first name Jackson all tripled on the same night. For Jackson Chourio and Jackson Holiday it was both players first career triple and they did it within minutes of one another. Jackson Merrill’s triple was his sixth of the 2024 season.

There is a nostalgic connection for Milwaukee Brewers fans to Robin Yount with these three players all hitting triples.
According to Nugget Chef on X the triples hit by Jackson Chourio, Jackson Merrill, and Jackson Holiday marks the first time since 1977 that three players age 21 or younger have tripled on the same day. Almost 47 years ago, on August 27, 1977 Robin Yount, Jack Clark, and Terry Puhl all tripled.
Will one of the Jackson’s win 2024 Rookie of the Year?
Both Jackson Chourio and Jackson Merrill are in contention for winning rookie of the year as they have spent the entire 2024 season in the big leagues. Jackson Holiday made his MLB debut early on but only recently was brought back up to the big leagues. This years both Chourio and Merrill are highly regarded defenders in which Merrill has learned center field on the fly and offensively they are excelling as Chourio has a .763 OPS and is chasing a 20/20 season whereas Merrill has a .808 OPS with 17 home runs and 66 RBI.
