The Milwaukee Brewers have already lost two key players from the 2024 team this offseason. Shortstop Willy Adames signed with the San Francisco Giants in MLB free agency. Also, the Brewers traded closer Devin Williams on Friday to the New York Yankees for Nestor Cortes, Caleb Durbin, and cash considerations.
With Williams now gone from the team, it will be intriguing to see who the Brewers closer will be for the 2025 MLB season. Milwaukee has won the National League Central in back-to-back seasons.
Milwaukee Brewers Fans Make Shocking Comments After Devin Williams Trade
When Williams was traded to the Yankees, the Brewers Twitter page said:
“It was a pleasure to watch you pitch,
Minus the playoffs. It was miserable to watch

The offseason helplessness for Brewers fans is unmatched. Don’t fall in love with any players they will be gone. Your only hope for a WS is for lightning to strikes once.
If only John Mernard was in to baseball instead of racing.

It was also aggravating to watch Devin pitch. It seemed that frequently there would be drama when he pitched.

Until it absolutely wasn’t. Get him outta here.

Seeing Devin in the old uniforms looks so weird nowadays. It’s like Braun in our current set

A lot of Milwaukee Brewers fans will never forgive Williams for giving up the home run. Had they won that series, they would have faced the Philadelphia Phillies in the next round. Devin Williams was good during the regular season, but not in that series against the New York Mets.
Not Surprising He Was Traded
Devin Williams only has one year remaining on his contract. When he gave up that home run against the Mets that knocked the Brewers out of the playoffs, it almost felt inevitable that they were going to trade him in the offseason.
Well, they did and it was to the New York Yankees. Some other teams like the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Philadelphia Phillies wanted to trade for the former Brewers closer. Trading Williams will not be the last move general manager Matt Arnold will make this MLB offseason.
