Wisconsin Badgers football team have lost some players to the Indiana Hoosiers and this time it is someone that could have been theirs.
Sam Simpson, a three-star offensive line from River Falls, announced that he is committing to the Indiana Hoosiers when he becomes eligible in 2026.
He wrote on X:

I want to start by thanking my family, friends, teachers, and coaches for pushing me to be the best person and the best football player on and off the field. I appreciate all the coaches and staff of teams I have encountered through my journey.
I am grateful for the opportunity Indiana football, coach Cignetti, and Coach Bostad have given me in playing B1G football and further my academics at the university of Indiana. I’m happy to announce my commitment to Indiana football.
Wisconsin Badgers are among the six football programs that made an offer to Simpson. The four others were the Illinois State Redbirds, Iowa Hawkeyes, Iowa State Cyclones, and the Kansas Jayhawks.
Trey Wedig (right tackle) and Drew Evans (left guard) are two former Badgers who transferred to Hoosiers.
It would have been poetic if a Wisconsin native gets to play for his hometown in college.
Wisconsin Badgers recruitment continues
Although they lost Simpson (for now), the program is not lacking the effort to collect talent.
Pundits said talent retention, especially on offense, is one of their main concerning coming in to the new season. Head coach Luke Fickell has been relentless.
In fact, he flew to Texas to personally offer a scholarship to TCU commit Brock Boyd.
They also recently made an offer to offensive tackle Sam Greer who also has interest from Missouri, Ohio State, Boston College, Central Michigan, and Duke.
Running backs coach Devon Spalding is also doing his part, making his pitch to Class of 2026 four-star prospect Favour Akih.
The offseason is still quite long.
