Josh Hader, formerly traded by the Milwaukee Brewers to the San Diego Padres in 2022 who then subsequently went on to sign a massive five year, $95 million contract with the Houston Astros last off-season, collected his first career save against his former team on Friday night. In the process he also completed a MLB milestone.
The Houston Astros defeated the Milwaukee Brewers 5-4 and Josh Hader collected his first career save against his former organization.
In what was a back and forth game that saw three different lead changes the Astros held on to defeat the Brewers by a score of 5-4. Josh Hader worked a clean 1-2-3 ninth inning as he got a pair of fly outs and ended the game with a strikeout. This marked Hader’s first career save against his former organization.
Josh Hader now has a save against all 30 MLB teams.
The Milwaukee Brewers were the last team remaining that Josh Hader had not collected a save against. He had faced them two other times beforehand, but in non save situations. Outside of Milwaukee the other teams that Hader has just one save against are the New York Yankees, Houston Astros, and Boston Red Sox.
How many career saves does Josh Hader have?
2024 is Josh Hader’s eighth MLB season and he has 171 saves. The vast majority of his saves have come against the National League Central with 17 of them coming against the Pittsburgh Pirates, and 16 a piece against the Chicago Cubs, St. Louis Cardinals, and Cincinnati Reds.
