The Green Bay Packers recorded a 34-0 wire-to-wire victory over the New Orleans Saints last Monday for their first shutout win this year.
Green Bay’s defense made Spencer Rattler’s life difficult, as the 24-year-old quarterback completed only 15-of-30 passes for 153 yards and one interception recorded by Zayne Anderson.
Zayne Anderson’s shining moment came in the third period when the Green Bay Packers were up 24-0. The one-time Super Bowl champion read Spencer Rattler’s pass beautifully and took the pass intended for tight end Foster Moreau. The defensive sequence arguably squashed any hopes for New Orleans to come back in the game.
“I was down safety and saw the screen and I had to peek for the leak, saw he was running with it late and I just went up and made a play,” Anderson recalled via Matt Schneidman of The Athletic. “It’s a surreal feeling. I’ve been going at this for some years now finally starting to play a little defense. I feel like it’s been a long time coming.”
Green Bay Packers’ Xavier McKinney is a huge fan of Zayne Anderson
Zayne Anderson, who had to fill in for Evan Williams and Javon Bullard, has drawn praise from Xavier McKinney for stepping up in the Green Bay Packers’ shutout win over the New Orleans Saints.
“Zayne played his ass off today. It’s everything I expected him to do. (It’s his) focus, how he prepares in meetings, how he goes out there and practices, how intentional he is about making sure he’s in the right spots, and I think that’s really the biggest thing (about him),” McKinney said about Anderson.
Anderson was the third-highest-graded Green Bay defender in the victory, as he also notched two pass breakups. PFF gave him an 85.2 grade for his efforts, which is not bad for his first-ever NFL start.
