Honestly, while there are maybe some angles where trading JJ now ups the chances this season, it would hurt us so much moving forward. The Vikings were correct in just accepting the risk of such a young QB on such a strong roster and hoping he really is the real deal.
Minnesota did not select JJ McCarthy with the 10th overall pick just to let him sit on the bench or trade him away; they brought him in to be their leader and guide the team to success. With a full year to familiarize himself with the playbook, JJ is ready, and Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell has the expertise to develop quarterbacks effectively.
