The Green Bay Packers failed to capitalize on a golden opportunity to improve their chances of catching the Detroit Lions atop the NFC North division, as they suffered a 34-31 loss at the hands of Dan Campbell’s team in Week 14 at Ford Field.
Nevertheless, the Packers are on track to make the NFL playoffs. Barring a disaster, the Packers will have at least a game to be played beyond Week 18.
While looking back at the Lions game, second-year Packers tight end Tucker Kraft offered an honest critique of Green Bay’s ways versus Detroit. He also made a challenge for himself and the rest of the team, as Green Bay looks to have a strong finish in the 2024 NFL regular season.
Via Matt Schneidman of The Athletic:
Tucker Kraft assesses where the Packers are with four games left:
“Last game was a check for us because we had guys playing with — myself included — playing with aggression but not necessary the best technique … this next storm of games, we’re gonna be locked in.”
There was a few times I went in full head of steam trying to hit a guy, but my angles were off and I wasn’t staying connected to my block, and thats the difference between a tackle on the line of scrimmage versus explosive play.
So going forward, we’ll take each game one game at a time, one play at a time, and this next storm of games, we’re gonna be locked in. We’re going to be energized. We’re going to bring that juice”.
Tucker Kraft, Green Bay Packers will try to recover right away from loss to the Detroit Lions
The Packers couldn’t replay the game against the Lions on the field, but they could learn from it, and that is what Kraft was trying to stress. Against the Packers, the Lions went just 1-of-5 on third downs and only 17 first downs — things they could have improved on with better blocking, as Kraft implied.
In any case, the Packers will look to apply their learnings on their Week 15 assignment against the Seattle Seahawks on the road.
