The Green Bay Packers will be looking to make uncomfortable business decisions this offseason with the roster. They made an uncomfortable decision last offseason when they signed running back Josh Jacobs and released fan favorite Aaron Jones from the team.

This offseason, general manager Brian Gutekunst will have some key decisions to make. One player that might need to play elsewhere next season is cornerback Jaire Alexander. The Packers will need to figure out what is the best decision for both parties moving forward.
Dairylandexpress.com Writer Brian Sampson Thinks That Green Bay Packers Cornerback Jaire Alexander Will Not Be Back Next Season

There was probably a reason why Alexander did not speak to the media when the Packers cleaned out their locker after they lost to the Philadelphia Eagles in the wild-card round. He is not sure if he will be back with the team in 2025.
Dairylandexpress.com writer Brian Sampson thinks that Jaire Alexander will be one of four players who were on the 2024 roster that will not be back on the 2025 roster. Sampson said:
“At this point, it feels more like a when rather than an if the Packers move on from Jaire Alexander. The real question is: How do they do it?
Green Bay has options.
If they cut him outright, they’d save just under $7 million against the cap in 2025—not an insignificant number. But the real incentive comes in 2026 when they’d completely wipe his massive $27.4 million cap hit off the books.
If they can find a trade partner, even better. That route would allow them to pick up assets rather than just cutting ties for cap relief.
On talent alone, Alexander is still an asset.
When he’s on the field, he’s one of the best man-to-man cornerbacks in the league, capable of shadowing elite receivers and locking down entire sections of the field.
The problem is he just hasn’t been on the field enough. In three of the past four seasons, he’s played in seven games or fewer. That’s not a small sample size—it’s a troubling trend.”
There is no doubt that there will be some suitors on the trade market for Jaire Alexander. It would be interesting to see what kind of draft capital they would get in return for him. Alexander recorded 16 tackles, one fumble recovery, two interceptions, one touchdown, and seven pass deflections last season.
He has been with the Green Bay Packers since the 2018 season. He was a first-round selection from the Louisville Cardinals.
Release Him Potentially

If they were just to release him instead of trading him, that would mean that the Packers either didn’t try to trade him or the market wasn’t what they hoped for. Alexander is 28 years old and he could still provide quality play for other teams if healthy.
It feels like the best for both the Green Bay Packers and Jaire Alexander to move on this offseason. He missed a lot of games over the last two seasons also.
