Former Green Bay Packers cornerback Terrell Buckley was recently named the head coach of Mississippi Valley State, an NCAA Division I school competing in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS), first reported by JR Radcliffe of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
The FCS includes schools such as South Dakota State, Illinois State, Drake, and defending champions North Dakota State.
Mississippi Valley State appointed Buckley after firing Kendrick Wade, who went 2-21 over the past two seasons. Before joining the Delta Devils, Buckley was the head coach of the Orlando Guardians in the XFL. The Mississippi Valley State program has produced Hall of Famers wide receiver Jerry Rice and defensive end Deacon Jones.
“We’re going to build a culture of accountability, hard work, and belief — because winning starts with the standards we set and the mindset we bring every single day,” the former Green Bay Packers cornerback said in an official statement.
