Last offseason, Green Bay Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst decided to swing for the fences in free agency. He signed safety Xavier McKinney and running back Josh Jacobs last offseason and it paid off for them during the 2024 NFL season.
Both players made the Pro Bowl this season for the Packers. Maybe the Green Bay Packers should sign star-free agents more often. Green Bay still needs to find either a star pass rusher or a star number-one wide receiver for quarterback Jordan Love. Last year, there was optimism about the future of the wide receiver room. Now, there will need to be some changes at the position for next year.
ESPN’s Benjamin Solak Thinks That the Green Bay Packers Need To Sign Cincinnati Bengals Wide Receiver Tee Higgins This Offseason
ESPN’s Benjamin Solak predicted what the Green Bay Packers could potentially do in the 2025 NFL offseason. He expects the Packers to be major players in trying to sign Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins in free agency this NFL offseason. Solak recently wrote:
“While I love the versatility of the Packers’ wide receiver room (when it is healthy), they could use a clear WR1 who can take over games with consistent eight-plus-target outings. Expect them to be in the Tee Higgins hunt.”
Tee Higgins this past season with the Cincinnati Bengals caught 73 passes for 911 yards receiving and 10 touchdowns, along with averaging 12.5 yards per reception. He was targeted 109 times. Higgins is only 26 years old.
He is 6’4″ and weighs 219 lbs. Tee Higgins is looking to pursue an opportunity as the true number-one wide receiver in an offense. The only reason why he hasn’t showcased that is because of Ja’Marr Chase being the number one option for quarterback Joe Burrow in Cincinnati.
Many Suitors Possible For Higgins
There is no doubt that the Green Bay Packers will have competition on the open market for Tee Higgins. Several teams are looking for a true number-one wide receiver. The New England Patriots could be the biggest players for Higgins because they need a number-one wide receiver for quarterback Drake Maye and New England has a lot of cap space. The Washington Commanders and the Pittsburgh Steelers could also be in play for the former Clemson Tigers wide receiver.
It would be a surprise to see Higgins back with the Cincinnati Bengals next season. If Higgins signed with the Green Bay Packers, there is no doubt that he would be the top target on the team for the 2025 NFL season. Tee Higgins could be worth more than $30 million per season and it would be interesting to see if general manager Brian Gutekunst would take that swing or not.
