The Green Bay Packers are 6-3 entering Week 11 of the NFL season. They were on a bye week last week. This week, they are preparing for a road matchup against the Chicago Bears. Green Bay is currently the seventh seed in the NFC.
During the bye week, they traded away Preston Smith to the Pittsburgh Steelers for a seventh-round draft pick. A potential free agent to replace Smith is Melvin Ingram.
Bleacher Report Urges Green Bay Packers To Sign Melvin Ingram For the Remainder Of the 2024 Season
Every week, the Bleacher Report Scouting Department urges each NFL team to make moves. This week, they think that the Packers should sign Melvin Ingram for the remainder of the 2024 season. They said:
“The Packers granted Smith’s trade request as he wasn’t a good scheme fit in Jeff Hafley’s system. But that does leave the defense thin at edge rusher. Green Bay needed help at the position before the trade.
Adding a veteran like Ingram as a sub-package rusher wouldn’t be a bad idea to help make a playoff push. He logged six sacks in that role for the Dolphins two years ago.”
Melvin Ingram has had a very good NFL career. He has 58.5 sacks in 414 career NFL games. The Green Bay Packers lack a pass rush and Ingram would no question help in that department.
Tough Schedule
The Green Bay Packers for the rest of the 2024 season will have a tough schedule. They will have to face Caleb Williams twice, Sam Darnold, Jared Goff, Brock Purdy, Tua Tagovailoa, Geno Smith, and either Derek Carr or Spencer Rattler. All of those quarterbacks can do damage in the air and Green Bay will need to rush the quarterback.
If they lack a pass rush in the regular season, it might come back to bite them and miss the playoffs. This is why they should go sign Melvin Ingram, If not, they better hope players like Lukas Van Ness, Rashan Gary, Devonte Wyatt, and Kenny Clark step up in the second half for the team.
