The Green Bay Packers are fully focused on competing for a championship this season. At this point in the year, they hold a 7-3 record and look the part of a potential contender.
While there are some thing that they need to improve throughout the remainder of the season, the talent in place is good enough to win a Super Bowl if they play up to their full potential.
That being said, the front office is likely already looking ahead to the NFL offseason as well. The Packers are going to have some tough decisions to make.
One of those decisions will have to do with the future of an intriguing defensive back.
Green Bay Packers Could Lose Intriguing DB to Saints in 2025 Free Agency
During the offseason, Green Bay Packers’ cornerback Eric Stokes will end up hitting the market. There is a very good chance that he won’t end up returning to Green Bay.
Bleacher Report recently suggested that the New Orleans Saints should try to sign Stokes.
“It could make sense for the Saints to take a flier on Packers corner Eric Stokes. The 2021 first-round pick flashed promise as a rookie, allowing an opposing passer rating of just 71.3 in coverage, but has largely disappointed since. Because he has fallen out of favor in Green Bay, Stokes could end up being a budget-friendly risk-reward free agent in March. While Stokes hasn’t panned out for the Packers, the 25-year-old still possesses the physical traits that made him a coveted prospect a few short years ago.”
So far this season, Stokes has played in all 10 games. He has racked up 27 total tackles and no other notable statistics.
At 25 years old, Stokes will be an intriguing young target for any team needing secondary help. The Saints would certainly fit into that category.
Originally drafted by the Green Bay Packers with the No. 29 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, Stokes showed flashes of big potential. Unfortunately, injuries derailed his career and he hasn’t been able to show consistency.
All of that being said, fans should prepare for the likelihood that the Packers will lose Stokes in the offseason and will need to replace him with someone else.
