Green Bay Packers rookie offensive lineman Jordan Morgan is soon going to be tested in a true NFL game. Although he has yet to appear in a regular season contest, Morgan has already generated some hype, especially since many view him as an important part of the Packers’ offensive line. One stat that could add to the excitement over the first-year OL is a particular stat that ESPN highlighted recently.
Stat to know: The Packers took Arizona OT Jordan Morgan in the first round of the 2024 draft. Morgan did not have a blown block in 306 run-blocking plays in his final college season, the third-most plays without a blown block by any Power 5 offensive lineman.
Jordan Morgan could be an impact player right away
Listed as a guard on the Packers’ depth chart, Morgan could see significant playing time in Week 1 against the Philadelphia Eagles. However, Packers head coach Matt LaFleur is keeping his cards close to his chest when it comes to his decision on who to start at right guard. At the moment, Sean Rhyan is ahead of Morgan on the depth chart.
Because he did not play in the preseason, some consider Morgan a mystery, but the aforementioned stat should be able to give anyone a good idea of what kind of player he is. For one, he comes across as a solid run-blocker. In his final season with the Arizona Wildcats in 2023, Morgan got a good 77.0 Pro Football Focus rating in terms of run blocking. He graded even better in pass blocking with an 87.1 rating.
