Green Bay Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs raised eyebrows during their 30-13 win over the Seattle Seahawks for two reasons. One is because of his overall performance, and the second is because of the Guardian Cap he sported.
When asked about the Guardian Cap, the third-year pro said his concussion prompted him to wear the accessory for the first time in-game since it adds another layer of protection for his helmet. However, he is unsure if the Guardian Cap will be a permanent fixture for gameday.
“Better safe than sorry,” Romeo Doubs said during a postgame interview. “I don’t want to make it a superstition where I have to wear it in spite of performance.”
As mentioned, Doubs was placed in concussion protocol for nearly three weeks after sustaining a blow to the head against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 12. The Green Bay Packers cannot afford to lose Doubs again, as they head towards the end of the regular season.
Romeo Doubs was a standout performer for the Green Bay Packers in Week 15
Romeo Doubs’ first game wearing a Guardian Cap coincided with one of his most impactful performances of the season. He played a pivotal role in the Week 15 victory over the Seattle Seahawks, as he had three catches for 40 yards and two touchdowns.
The Nevada product went viral on social media for his insane catch in the end zone during the fourth quarter. Doubs showed off his incredible athleticism and concentration to catch Jordan Love’s low pass with Devon Witherspoon draped all over him.
Doubs’ first touchdown was also impressive, as he powered through Tariq Woolen and Julian Love after a Jordan Love dime for his first score to put the Green Bay Packers up by two scores.
