The Green Bay Packers had, overall, a successful regular season in 2024. They finished the year 11-6 and made the NFL Playoffs for the second consecutive season. When most teams move on from a franchise quarterback, as Green Bay did when they traded Aaron Rodgers in favor of Jordan Love, they typically take a step back. The Packers, however, improved.
That being said, there were plenty of things that were disappointing and frustrating in Green Bay this season. They went just 1-5 against the rest of the NFC North and 0-6 against the three best teams in the conference. Furthermore, their pass rush was underwhelming after Jeff Hafley had promised that it would be a force to be reckoned with.
Green Bay Packers Fans Want Better Pass Rushers in 2025

Going into the 2024 season, Hafley promised that his new defensive scheme would make Green Bay’s defense more successful at pressure opposing quarterbacks and against the run. While the Packers defense did improve limiting the run game, they did not create havoc for quarterbacks like they were expected to.
Sure, they finished in the top-10 in the NFL with 44 sacks, but their pressure rate ranked near the bottom. Rashan Gary made the Pro Bowl, but that selection took many by surprise. Brenton Cox played well when he was finally given the opportunity following the Preston Smith trade, but he also missed a few games at the end of the season due to injury.
Lukas Van Ness, Kingsley Enagbare, and Kenny Clark were often non-factors.
Their poor production led many Packers fans to call on general manager Brian Gutekunst to go out and land a stud pass rusher via free agency or trade. However, the one player many fans wanted on the trade market is no longer available.
The Green Bay Packers Will Not Be Able to Get Myles Garrett from the Cleveland Browns

One of the players that Packers fans really wanted to see Green Bay try to acquire is All-Pro Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett. For his career, Garrett has 102.5 sacks and had 14.0 of them this year in route to his fourth First Team All-Pro nod in five years.
Garrett also led the NFL with 22 tackles for loss in 2024 and forced three fumbles.
He would have been a dream addition to this Packers defense. But, unfortunately, it will have to remain a dream.
Cleveland will not listen to any calls regarding a possible trade for their star pass rusher:

With the Garrett dream dead, the Packers can still inquire about Las Vegas Raiders star Maxx Crosby. Another name that is commonly thrown around is Khalil Mack, who is going to be a free agent when the new league year begins.
Gutekunst said it is time for his team to start seriously competing for Super Bowls after two years of a rebuild, so do not be surprised if they make a big move for a pass rusher.
