Green Bay Packers safety Xavier McKinney was named a first-team All-Pro for the 2024 season by the Associated Press, and head coach Matt LaFleur couldn’t be any prouder for his star.
LaFleur said this news didn’t surprise him because McKinney has been one of Green Bay’s best players this 2024 season.
“That’s the ultimate honor. He’s put the time in. He’s just got an incredible focus about him. He’s obviously a very talented player but when you observe how he plays the game … he is so dialed in,” LaFleur said about McKinney via Wes Hodkiewicz of Packers.com.
Xavier McKinney was also named a Pro Bowl starter in the NFC, and teammates Josh Jacobs and Rashan Gary were also Pro Bowlers for the Green Bay Packers.
Elgton Jenkins, Zach Tom, Keisean Nixon, and Edgerrin Cooper also received All-Pro votes from the Associated Press.
Xavier McKinney revamped the Green Bay Packers defense this season
The Green Bay Packers signed then-free agent Xavier McKinney to a four-year, $68 million deal last summer, and it has proven to be a bargain.
In his first year in Green Bay, McKinney notched eight interceptions in 17 regular season appearances, ranked second among all NFL players. He also recovered a fumble and had a third-down sack.
With McKinney, the Green Bay Packers recorded 31 total takeaways and finished in the Top 10 for scoring and yards allowed under defensive coordinator Jeff Hatley.
