Earlier this week, there was some concern among Green Bay Packers fans regarding the health of running back Marshawn Lloyd. The 2024 third round pick had to leave practice early after taking a hard hit from cornerback Nate Hobbs. Head coach Matt LaFleur, who said he had previously talked to Hobbs about being too physical with his teammates during practice, temporarily benched the cornerback as punishment.
Lloyd, though, did not return to practice. Many feared that it was the hit that Hobbs laid on the second-year running back that led to the injury. However, a day later, both LaFleur and general manager Brian Gutekunst stated that the injury occurred before Hobbs hit Lloyd. They did not, however, know how long he would be out.
Thankfully, it turns out that he will not be out long.
Green Bay Packers Head Coach Matt LaFleur Expects Marshawn Lloyd Back Next Week

While addressing the media before practice on Thursday, LaFleur was asked about Lloyd’s status and when the coach thought he might be able to return. Fortunately, it is not going to be a long absence.

“It’s not going to be a long term deal, but I wouldn’t anticipate him this week.”
This confirms what the Packers starting running back, Josh Jacobs, said about Lloyd after the injury happened. “He’s going to be all right, man,” Jacobs stated via the Packers website. “He’s not about to miss that much time. I don’t really know the extent of his injury, but I know it’s nothing major. So, he’s going to be all right.”
After missing all but one game of his rookie season due to various injuries, Lloyd is looking to make the 53-man roster, competing with Emanuel Wilson and Chris Brooks for a job behind Jacobs.
Due to the immense level of competition and the shortage of open spots, Lloyd needs to get as many reps in as possible.
