The Green Bay Packers are dealing with injuries to the quarterback room. Jordan Love and Malik Willis were limited participants in last Wednesday’s practice in preparation for the first-round clash against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Jordan Love said his elbow was still sore, but he expressed optimism that he’ll be 100 percent come Sunday. On the other hand, backup quarterback Malik Willis didn’t sound too optimistic about his finger injury.
“I mean, it doesn’t feel normal, no,” Willis said after practice via the Associated Press. “I just did whatever they allowed me to do out there today and we’ll see how it goes the rest of the week.”
“I’m not sure that I’m ready to think about that (starting if Love sits out). I take it day by day,” he added.
Malik Willis injured his right thumb during the Green Bay Packers’ Week 18 defeat against the Chicago Bears. The former Tennessee Titans man went 10-for-13 on his pass attempts for 136 yards in the losing effort.
Green Bay Packers need to up their passing game against the Philadelphia Eagles
The Green Bay Packers were 12th in yards per game (223.9) but were third in passing yards per play (7.95) because the team had a solid ground game, led by star running back Josh Jacobs.
But against the Minnesota Vikings and the Chicago Bears, the Green Bay Packers quarterbacks combined for 390 yards for one touchdown, six sacks, and no interceptions after completing 36 of 55 passes.
To make matters worse, Green Bay won’t have one of their top playmakers in Christian Watson, who’s out for the season due to a torn ACL.
