It is not a secret that the Green Bay Packers will need to make a trade this offseason to upgrade the pass rush. Many players will be available in a trade this offseason.

One player who could be available in a trade this offseason is Los Angeles Chargers defensive end Joey Bosa. Bosa has one year remaining on his contract. He is 29 years old.
Fansided.com Writer Cody Williams Creates Mock Trade Between the Green Bay Packers and the Los Angeles Chargers

Fansided.com writer Cody Williams created four different trade scenarios about which pass rusher the Green Bay Packers should trade for this offseason. He would have the Packers acquiring Joey Bosa from the Chargers and a 2025 seventh-round pick for a 2025 fifth-round pick and a 2026 seventh-round pick.
The good news for Green Bay is that they would not have to give up any of their top three selections in the 2025 NFL Draft. Williams said:
“When Joey Bosa has been healthy, there’s never been any question about how dominant he can be coming off the edge. That’s why the Los Angeles Chargers didn’t hesitate to sign him to a lucrative extension that leaves them with a $36.4 million cap hit in the 2025 season. Unfortunately, though, health has escaped Bosa over the past few seasons, which has led to rumblings that the Bolts could either look to trade or release him this offseason.
With an out in the contract that could save the Chargers nearly half of the cap hit if Bosa is cut or traded before playing out the final year of his current contract, they could be quite motivated to move him. And while it would be a gamble on the Packers part to pursue a player who has played just 28 games combined over the past three seasons, the depressed trade price as LA could just want to get anything in return could be right up Green Bay’s alley.
Shuffling around late-round picks in order to get a player like Bosa would make a ton of sense for Gutekunst, especially if the Chargers keep some of Bosa’s money on the books for the final year of this deal.
Again, there is an inherent risk when it comes to trading for a player who has struggled with injuries as of late. But if the Packers truly identify this need and get aggressive to address it, this is the most cost-effective trade they could ask for.”
Bosa last season with the Los Angeles Chargers recorded 22 tackles, five sacks, and two forced fumbles. He has been with the Chargers since the 2016 season. Joey Bosa was a former first-round selection from the Ohio State Buckeyes.
Chargers May Keep Him

With Los Angeles making the playoffs last season under Jim Harbaugh, the odds of them trading Bosa are very slim. However, with one year left on his contract, the Chargers may not keep him for the long term and maybe they would be open to trading him. They had a bad defense in 2023 and were much improved in 2024.
The Green Bay Packers acquiring Joey Bosa in a trade would be a good move and a cheap move for one season. However, general manager Brian Gutekunst would have to decide if he is worth keeping for the long term or not.
