Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur was involved in a heated confrontation with a Detroit Lions fan last Thursday, and the latter has somewhat apologized to the former for his actions.
Fahad Yousif, a Detroit Lions season ticket holder wearing a Brian Branch uniform, came forward to WXYZ-TV Channel 7 to explain his story. During the interview, Yousif admitted that he was “caught up in the moment” when he provoked LaFleur and several Green Bay Packers players before the game.
“We’re about 5, 10 yards away from the sideline just kind of looking at all the players, definitely letting them know you’re going down, you’re done, it’s over, let them know we’re gonna beat you two times, once home, once here and (LaFleur) didn’t like that,” Yousif said via Emmett Prosser of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
“Once I did the throat slash, he absolutely lost it, which I understand. I mean, I got caught up in the moment, and the fans, and the adrenaline and stuff, but it was madness,” he added.
In the end, Fahad Yousif got the last laugh as the Detroit Lions secured a 34-31 win to sweep the Green Bay Packers and clinch their playoff spot in the NFC.
Green Bay Packers aim to bounce back against the Seattle Seahawks
Despite the loss to the Detroit Lions, the Green Bay Packers remain on the doorstep of a playoff berth. According to the New York Times simulator, Green Bay has a 98 percent chance of reaching the postseason, but first things first, they must beat the Seattle Seahawks in their next match.
Matt LaFleur hopes to have a healthier squad ahead of Week 15. However, he has yet to provide an update about Jaire Alexander, Edgerrin Cooper, or Corey Ballentine.
The Green Bay Packers made one move to bolster their offense by signing guard Michael Jordan to the practice squad.
