Aaron Jones has been over a year removed from his stint with the Green Bay Packers, but the running back remains popular among fans of his former team — and that’s even though he now plays for a fierce NFC North division rival.
After spending his first seven seasons in the NFL wearing Green Bay colors, Jones decided to stay in the division and take his talents to the Minnesota Vikings in 2024, signing a one-year deal worth $7 million. He inked another deal with the Vikings last March for a two-year, $20 million contract extension.
Clearly, the 30-year-old Jones feels at home in Minnesota. Jones is still an RB1, and while he’s now on the wrong side of 30, he has an opportunity to prove that he can continue providing solid production on the ground. In 2024, he set a new career-high with 1,138 yards to go with five touchdowns on 255 carries across 17 games.
Jones remains a favorite among Green Bay Packers fans

In a recent social media post by NFL media personality Kay Adams, she shared a story that underscores the running back’s charisma that transcends the bitter rivalry of the Packers and the Vikings.
Wrote Adams: “20 people have stopped me in Green Bay to ask how Aaron Jones is. Has there EVER been a player who changed teams …within a division .. who is more universally beloved by BOTH fanbases? I can’t think of one.”
Jones had plenty of memorable games during his time with the Packers, and those are surely not lost on Green Bay fans, who saw him lead the team in rushing in five different seasons. Selected in the fifth round (182nd overall) in the 2017 NFL draft by the Packers, Jones amassed a total of 5,940 rushing yards and 45 touchdowns on 1,177 carries through 97 games in Green Bay threads.
