The Green Bay Packers are looking for pass rushing help this offseason. One team that will not be able to afford all of there free agents is the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Eagles will have to make tough business decisions with some of its players this offseason. One player who will be on the free agent market is Josh Sweat. He could potentially have a lot of suitors on the open market.
Green Bay Packers Urged To Sign Philadelphia Eagles Star Josh Sweat In Free Agency

It is not a secret that the Packers need to make a splash on the free agent market this offseason. Whether it is for a wide receiver or a defensive lineman remains to be seen. However, lombardiavenue.com writer James Mastrucci thinks that signing Josh Sweat in free agency could be possible. Mastrucci said:
“Free-agent pass-rusher Josh Sweat would be a dream addition to Packers’ defense
Sweat led the Eagles last season with eight sacks, a number that also would have topped Green Bay’s sack leader in 2024 (Rashan Gary had 7.5). The 27-year-old Florida State product is an impact player against both the pass and the run, making him an ideal fit for the Packers’ defense. Admittedly, signing Sweat to a free-agent contract may not have the same type of attractiveness to it as trading for someone like Myles Garrett or Maxx Crosby, but that may not necessarily be a bad thing. A team that trades for either Garrett or Crosby will have to give up draft capital, in addition to a new high-value contract, while the cost for Sweat will only be financial.
Hanging on to their draft selections in conjunction with signing someone like Sweat will allow them to have a little more flexibility in their team-building process. A trade for Garrett/Crosby would put them all in from the moment the trade was finalized.
Having the flexibility to pivot is truly valuable and should be considered when exploring their options to solidify their defensive front for next season and beyond.”
Sweat is 27 years old. This past season with the Eagles, he recorded 41 tackles, eight sacks, and two pass deflections. Josh Sweat would be a great addition to the Green Bay Packers defensive unit.
If they were to sign Sweat to a new contract, they may not need to draft a defensive lineman in the first round, but they may choose to anyway. The Philadelphia Eagles won the Super Bowl last season and may not be able to afford to keep Josh Sweat around, and it could be the Packers’ gain.
